Swimming Lessons

Baby & Me

A sequential, developmentally skill based, water awareness program for babies and toddlers from 4 months to 3 years of age, with a parent or carer in the water. Babies and parents are introduced to, and learn to love and respect the water in a fun and colourful environment using toys, songs and skill based activities that enhance confidence and the learning of basic safety and water skills which are reliant on education, not just entertainment. We believe that teaching skills slowly and well in a progressive, sequential program is vital to overall future stroke development.

Our emphasis is on babies learning to:

• submerge confidently only when displaying "readiness" and on cue
• demonstrate balance, buoyancy and adjustment
• on entry, turning back to, and grasping the wall
• roll and float on their back and kick to safety

Classes are held Monday – Friday mornings from 9am – 12 noon
and Saturday mornings from 8am – 12.15pm. Each lesson is of a half hour duration.

Pre School

A specially designed, morning learn-to-swim program for 3 to 5 year olds, from beginner to advanced level.

Option 1:

PS 3-4 year old with a parent or carer. For either the child old enough but not yet ready to be in a class on their own, or those wishing to maximise constant movement in the class.

Option 2:

Class without a parent/carer.

Each option will be in a small group allowing the children to build confidence and learn swimming and safety skills at their own rate in a fun and sequentially structured, progressive program. Emphasis is on the development of a streamlined body position and efficient kick, as the basis for all strokes. Each lesson is of a half hour duration.

Classes are held Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 12 noon
and Saturdays from 8am until 12.15pm.

School Age

A comprehensive program of lessons with the emphasis on skill technique and safety acquisition, for all ages and abilities.

Classes for beginners to Level 7 are held Monday to Friday from 3.30 – 6.30pm
and Saturdays from 8am – 12.15pm.

Lessons are:

30 minutes for levels 1 – 4
45 minutes for level 5
60 minutes for levels 6 & 7

Adult

One hour lessons for beginner to advanced level on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10.30am and Tuesday nights at 5.30pm

Private

Private or semi-private lessons are available at 3 or 3.30pm or from 5.30pm on during the week or Saturdays at 7.30am or from 11.15am

Holiday Intensives

A 5 day intensive program is held in the second week of each holiday break and for the last 3 weeks of January prior to school returning. These are a great way of reinforcing skills learned in term programs and a boost for those children who are timid in the water.

Classes are held each day and are 40 minutes in duration. An intensive, one hour squad program will be held each holiday period.

Squads

To be eligible for squads, swimmers must have reached level 5. The emphasis is on improving stroke technique, efficiency and endurance in the water.

General:
Junior and Intermediate squads which run each night of the week for one hour at 4pm or 5pm, Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 7 - 8am and Saturday mornings from 8 -9am.

Masters:  A one hour squad on Tuesdays at 6.00pm and Thursdays at 7pm

Disability:  SWD squad held on Fridays from 5.30 – 6.30pm

Disability Learn to Swim

A learn-to-swim program in either individual or very small group classes for children with various disabilities who find it a challenge to function well in mainstream classes.

This program runs on Saturday afternoons during term time from 12.30 – 3:30pm.

Our dedicated staff ensure that all children achieve to their potential in a safe and fun environment.
